Psychological therapy & counselling

Embracing all that we are.
At times, we find ourselves struggling with our thoughts, emotions or behaviours because they cause us pain. Yet many of the parts we reject were once trying to protect us or help us adapt to difficult experiences. Therapy can offer a space to understand yourself more deeply, develop a different relationship with your inner world and move towards a life that feels more authentic and meaningful.
I offer therapy in English from Spain, for people living abroad and for anyone who feels more comfortable exploring their inner world in English. Being able to speak about what we are going through in a language that feels like our own can make a meaningful difference. If this resonates with you, you’re very welcome to stay and have a look around.

How I work
I do not see symptoms as something that needs to be eliminated but as an attempt to adapt. When we do not have the resources or skills to cope with difficult experiences or emotions, we develop strategies to survive, protect ourselves or keep moving forward. Sometimes these strategies help us for a while; at other times, they begin to create additional suffering.
Together, we explore emotions, thoughts, beliefs and behaviours with curiosity, seeking to understand why they arise, what purpose they serve and what they may be trying to protect us from. I believe that every part of us carries a meaningful intention, even when its strategies no longer serve us well. By understanding them, we can begin to respond to the needs beneath them and create space for new ways of relating to ourselves.
My aim is to offer a space where every aspect of your experience is welcome. A place where you can feel seen, understood and accepted, allowing you to gradually embrace all that you are.
As one former client once told me:

“Being seen, understood and validated by you helped me learn to see, understand and validate myself.”
My work is primarily informed by contextual behavioural therapies, with a particular focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based approaches. I also integrate cognitive-behavioural and systemic perspectives to tailor the therapeutic process to each individual’s needs. In addition, I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), particularly in work related to relational trauma, emotional regulation and self-compassion.
The body also plays an important role in my work. Often, we can understand something intellectually long before we are able to truly feel or integrate it. For this reason, I combine reflection with mindfulness and attention to bodily experience, which support a deeper and more holistic therapeutic process.
I offer a compassionate and attentive presence, meeting you with curiosity and deep respect for your unique pace and personal journey.
About me
Lina Baumgärtner - Psicóloga Sanitaria - Nº de Colegiada: AO14394

I was born in Germany, where I spent the first eighteen years of my life. After finishing school, I set off on a journey through Latin America that profoundly changed the way I see the world and understand myself. It was there that I learned Spanish, encountered different cultures and began asking questions that still accompany me today: Who are we? How do we shape our identity? What do we need to live a meaningful life?
I had always been fascinated by the human mind, but it was during that period that I realised I wanted to dedicate my life to supporting people through their experiences of growth, suffering and change.
Later, I moved to Spain to study Psychology. There, I discovered something I had not expected: a place that gradually became my home. Granada continues to be a place that holds a special place in my heart.
Living between different countries, languages and cultures has taught me that every person carries a unique story and that there is no single way of being in the world. Perhaps this is why I value curiosity, openness and the ability to approach our experience without judgement.
Over time, psychology became more than a passion; it became a vocation. I feel deeply grateful to accompany people as they create space to listen to themselves more honestly, understand themselves more deeply and develop a more compassionate and accepting relationship with who they are. For me, therapy is not about becoming someone different. It is about approaching who you already are with greater kindness.

How are the sessions

Format
Sessions take place online via video call on Google Meet, so you can join comfortably from wherever you are.
Duration
Each session lasts 55 minutes. We can decide together how often we meet, depending on your needs.
Fee
The fee is €80 per session, including the first session and all subsequent sessions.

Start therapy
Taking the first step towards therapy is not always easy. Sometimes we have spent a long time trying to manage things on our own; other times, we simply do not know where to start.
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. You do not need the right words or a clear explanation of what is happening. You can simply share what has been weighing on you, what feels difficult at the moment, or what brought you here.
If, after our conversation, you feel that this could be the right space for you, we can begin working together. If not, there is absolutely no obligation to continue. Simply fill in the contact form below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
You don’t need to understand it all before we start looking into it together.
